The lender requested an upfront insurance fee to guarantee payment of the loan amount. Once paid, an additional fee of R2500.00 is requested for the transfer of the loan. I asked for a refund and it was refused as the money was allocated as insurance for a loan I no longer want to proceed with or received. No further contact with the lender.

Well it happened to me to, but the worse thing is that they get away with it. What can we do to get at least part of our funds back. Please advise.
Reply I believe I have been scammed as well. Was requested to pay R1 700 for "insurance" up front, then an additional R2 000 to ensure that all "processes" had been attended to. I have been in contact with an agent, who keeps fobbing me off, saying the money is there etc etc. I even got a "proof of payment" . When I question them, they keep saying it will reflect blah blah and it never does. I had to take out a loan from a friend that I need to pay back now, and I have to say I am disgusted as I am totally broke now.
